The Board of Directors of Abelon Group has appointed Geir Stapnes as new CEO of Abelon Group AS and the subsidiaries Abelon Management AS and Abelon Technology AS with effect from June 1, 2021.
– I’m honored by the confidence that the board places in me and I look forward to continuing the work of delivering high quality services that create value for our customers. Abelon is a company with acknowledged expertise in a number of disciplines and areas. My most important task will be to ensure delivery of top-quality services to our customers by being a competent and reliable partner. At the same time, we will continue to expand and develop the company’s range of services, said Stapnes.
– High competence
Geir Stapnes has extensive international experience from the oil and gas industry. He headed the course and training department at NOV and served in various roles as sales manager and leader of several important projects in electrical and engineering during his 15 years at NOV. In 2018, Stapnes joined Abelon to head up the offshore preservation team (Martin Linge). Stapnes holds an Executive MBA in Technology Management from the University of Agder and a Bachelor’s degree in electronics and automation. Stapnes succeeds Grete Møgster, who has chosen to resign from her position as general manager of Abelon to pursue new paths within sustainability and circular economy.
– I wish Grete the best of luck with her new projects and I’m delighted that Geir has agreed to take over the management of Abelon. He has the required practical understanding, high competence in technology management and he knows the company, the employees and our market very well. With Geir at the helm, I am confident that Abelon is in a position to achieve further growth and development, said Chairman of the Board of Abelon Group Cato Kydland.
New Board of Directors
Kydland formally took on his new role as Chairman of the Board of Abelon on 1 May this year. The new Board of Directors also include Tore Nedregaard, Odd-Geir Taule and Geir Stapnes. Going forward, the new board and management of Abelon will work closely together to position the company for future growth and create new opportunities in both a short-term and long-term perspective.
– Abelon will continue to be a company that delivers equipment and personnel on- and offshore, with a steady focus on supporting our customers with highly qualified personnel in various disciplines. The main objective will be further development and to ensure that Abelon is a competitive company and an attractive workplace and supplier, said Kydland.
